The Chief Revenue Officer is a highly analytical commercial leader with a very strong entrepreneurial marketing background ideally in an international B2B context.
Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the CRO will be accountable for developing revenue models and executing monetization strategies aimed at generating strong revenue growth.
The CRO will be responsible for designing and executing the sales and business development strategy to ensure the success and growth of the business. He/she will be accountable for driving better integration and alignment between all revenue-related functions, scaling business revenues, including marketing, sales, customer support, and revenue management, through customer prospecting, technology evangelization and long-term relationship-building.
The CRO will also play a leadership role in developing, owning and implementing all sales management activities throughout the organization. The ideal candidate in this role will be a key part of Brilliant Matter’s leadership team and will have the unique opportunity to grow the sales team in tandem with revenue.

The ideal candidate has already proven themselves within early stage companies and is a strong field business development performer. Capable of taking ownership of all sales, marketing and business development efforts, he/she will build a strong sales pipeline and act as a catalyst for revenue growth. Given the disruptive nature of the technology, the successful candidate’s customer, business and sales acumen must be complemented by a strong technical background, ideally in the chemical industry, with past experience in complex selling.
The CRO is a strategic, innovative and data driven individual that has already proven themself in conceiving and bringing revenue generating ideas to market; seeing the potential in untapped markets and understanding how to activate them.
The CRO will need to quickly immerse himself/herself to assess the company, technology, customers, and business opportunities, and will take ownership of all the key responsibilities of the role. The CRO will build a sales and business development plan and will take responsibility for its implementation.
In a nutshell, we are looking for a “rainmaker” who leads by example with a track record of out-performance as an inspirational sales and revenue generation leader.


  • Marketing Responsibilities:
  • Leads Marketing / Lead Generation, Customer Onboarding and Retention, Channel and Inside Sales (inbound and outbound) teams;
  • Design and execute on all aspects of efficient lead generation and conversion;
  • Create accountability within the group by developing appropriate metrics and coordinating compensation within these metrics;
  • Evaluate all possible revenue channels to identify the ones that provide the most effective and profitable means of distribution;
  • Oversee the content creation (social media, blog, website, reseller and/or partners) and select the best media strategy for optimal returns of targeted segments;
  • Monitor strategies, processes and conversion across the revenue cycle from client profile definition, lead generation, demonstration, proof of concept (trial) and contract signature;
  • Analyse expenditures on marketing and advertising activities to ensure revenue generation is created through the most effective and efficient means possible;
  • Inspire and create a high-performance, engaged, accountable and results-driven organization by leading team members by example;
  • Serve as a thought leader in the company and set out best practices and performance standards for all user acquisition and growth initiatives.
  • Sales & Business Development Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies and processes that will enable Brilliant Matters to drive significant revenue growth through the client direct;
  • Design and execute on all aspects of efficient global sales operations, business development, lead generation, revenue management and customer retention;
  • Increase Brilliant Matters revenues and build a strong and sustained pipeline;
  • Designing and efficiently executing on all aspects related to global sales and business development operations, revenue management and customer retention;
  • Monitor the lead and revenue pipeline, adjusting as necessary to create sustainable and profitable growth;
  • Prospect, engage and build relationships with existing and new customers;
  • Provide leadership, direction and cross-departmental coaching on market opportunities;
  • Promote, sell and evangelize Brilliant Matters technologies;
  • Define and oversee lifecycle processes/touch points to adopt a proactive account management mindset within the Team for them to become a trusted advisor for the customer;
  • Drive key sales and business development activities with customers and prospects;
  • Manage contract negotiations;
  • Create presentations for Board meetings and effectively communicate the sales overview and strategy at meetings of the Board of Directors and through other periodic shareholder communications;
  • Maintain strong presence in the industry through regular active attendance and participation at organized industry events; and
  • Maintain a complete and thorough customer feedback loop to ensure consistent improvement of customer satisfaction;
  • Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to the Company’s executive team.


  • Bachelor of Engineering (Preferably Electrical Engineering) or equivalent required; can be a device physicist: must understand the "stack";
  • Must have a technical background.
  • Experience in selling complex solutions (flexible electronics or printable electronics) in engineering environment;
  • Experience in defining and implementing best practices for sales and Marketing operations;
  • Experience building a sales infrastructure capable of scaling quarter to quarter revenue, while establishing detailed processes for pipeline management, forecasting, demand generation, and sales best practices;
  • Experience hiring, coaching and retaining top talent and removing nonperformers;
  • A history of exceeding targets with ever increasing sales-quotas and customer retention;
  • Strong experience drafting and communicating sales plans that effectively drive business and motivate sales engineer team, coupled with expertise effectively leading and developing sales operations functions;
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, with a proven record in building and executing a field sales and business development strategy in an early stage company;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, engineering and R&D and the product management team;
  • B2B experience;
  • Passion for travel is required.
