As part of a continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Technical Director to manage the technical activities for the requirements, design, test, manufacture, and logistics support of Taiga Motors programs and opportunities. Meeting the corresponding contract technical performance requirements and be able to drive an interdisciplinary systems engineering process to ensure that the customer and stakeholders’ needs are satisfied in a high quality, trustworthy, cost efficient, and schedule compliant manner throughout a system’s entire life cycle.
Reporting to the Chief of Engineering, the Technical Director's primary responsibility is to take ownership of the Product Development Gates related to engineering activities, up to manufacturing release.

Responsabilités

  • Work with the Vehicle Program Manager to accomplish the product development gates on-time
  • Responsible for achieving the platform cost and performance targets through the good application of innovative engineering solutions
  • Direct technical oversight of the engineering team
  • Ensure Design review processes are observed and documented
  • Ensure the responsibility on every component is defined and followed-up on
  • Manage the Engineering Change Order process as well as the documentation and task assignation thereof
  • Where applicable, identify gaps in internal engineering standards & best practices and enact the proper documentation and communication to resolve them
  • Direct strategy for future development projects based on the company’s overall objectives and resources
  • Oversee the utilization of external engineering consultancies to achieve product development objectives
  • Determine the need for hiring , employee training and talent development
  • Prepare and manage the department’s budget
  • Identify gaps occurring between the vehicle engineering team and supporting departments, enact cross-functional problem-solving

Conditions

  • Mechanical Engineering degree
  • 15+ years working in the field of transportation engineering with preference for experience in the field of powersports
  • Experience managing engineering teams
  • Knowledgeable on CAD and PLM tools
  • Knowledgeable on engineering simulation tools
  • Highly resourceful and autonomous
  • Meticulous, attention to detail and innovative mindset
  • Ability to work in a changing and growing environment
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
